Benefits of Fluoride Treatments

At Hanley Family Dentistry we believe prevention is the best dental treatment our patients can receive. For this reason, we offer fluoride treatments for both children and adults. Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that helps prevent decay and cavities by coating your teeth. When applied it can help prevent plaque build-up and harden your tooth’s enamel.

Fluoride for Children

Dental fluoride treatment is one of the best ways to prevent tooth decay in children and help them maintain optimum oral health. Fluoride has been shown to be safe and effective for children and when combined with our dental sealant treatment can be 95% effective. Fluoride acts as a shield for your child’s teeth, preventing decay caused by acid, sugar, and plaque in the mouth. In certain cases, fluoride has even been shown to reverse some tooth decay.

If your child has not yet received fluoride treatment, contact Hanley Family Dentistry and schedule an appointment for a dental examination and treatment!

Fluoride for Adults

Fluoride treatment is also effective in the dental treatment of our adult patients. It works much the same way for adults as children, creating a barrier that helps protect teeth. Fluoride can disrupt the acid production that occurs in your mouth, preventing further decay, plaque, and damage. Fluoride has also been shown to reverse early tooth decay in some adults.

If you would like to ensure your teeth are as protected as they can be, Hanley Family Dentistry would be happy to provide fluoride treatment, just give us a call and schedule an appointment!

Fluoride treatment at our Chester dental office typically only takes a few minutes. After your treatment, we ask that you avoid eating, drinking or brushing for at least 30 minutes. This will allow the fluoride to absorb fully. Depending on your oral health, you may need fluoride treatments more often. Contact Hanley Family Dentistry today to schedule your fluoride treatment appointment! We look forward to brightening up your smile.
